Although we would love it if all of our puppy buyers were able to come to our
house we know that is not possible for a lot of our buyers. If you are not within
driving distance and your pup will need to be shipped we do offer shipping.

It is my opinion that shipping a puppy is a much bigger deal for the potential
puppy owner than it is for the puppy.   New owners know the puppy is going to
be shipped and they know what a plane is and what it does but a puppy does
not.  The puppy is not up all night thinking about the flight the next morning and
worried about the pilot being good at his job or how long the flight is and where
the pup will go potty during the flight.  Those are human issues not dog issues.
If a pup is exposed to the crate prior to shipping your pup will be familiar with
the crate and know it is a safe place to be which makes shipping or traveling
anywhere easier.  Puppies live in the moment not in the future or past so
typically once a puppy has landed at his new destination he/she may be ready
for a good romp and run, need to go potty and may be ready to eat and drink
but you can bet the pup is not thinking ..
WOW that was horrible I am not flying
again on that plane again!

I always suggest a family be at the airport 30 minutes prior to the pups arrival
so that you can tell the airline you are waiting for your pup and as soon as your
pup is ready you can go.

There are puppies who will stress more and that is usually due to the age of the
pup being shipped, the experience he/she had in the cargo area or the distance
of the flight but usually once a pup meets his/her new family they are just happy
to see smiling faces and people to play with.   The key is not to baby the pup
and act as if he/she has just been through a terrifying experience.   If you greet
him as if it was not a big deal the pup will pick up on your cues and not be
stressed.
I suggest when you are handed the crate with your pup in it you greet the pup
while he/she is still in the crate but I would  not take the pup out of the crate until
in the vehicle. ***You never know what pup was there before your dog and there
is no reason to expose your pup to the unknown.  Also walking your pup out on a
leash is not good for the same reasons not to mention the vehicles and noise
that could startle a pup.
Once back at the vehicle remove any soiled newspapers from the crate and
replace with fresh paper.  Offer the pup a little bit of water but not a lot you
don't want to make him sick for the car ride.   Once you are home then you
would take the pup outside to the fenced in yard and  offer water and food at
this time.   Let your pup get to know you and explore his yard.   Have fun with
your new pup!
